How we handle personal information, under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect
Through this website, we collect only what you send us: your name, telephone number, email address, preferred language, and whatever you choose to tell us about your loss.
If you retain us, we will collect considerably more in the course of handling your claim — policy documents, correspondence with your insurer, financial records, photographs and reports. That collection is governed by our engagement with you.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and assess whether we can assist.
- To provide public adjusting services if you retain us.
- To meet record-keeping obligations that apply to licensed adjusters in British Columbia.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unrelated to your enquiry.
Who we share it with
Where you have retained us, we share information with your insurer and its representatives as necessary to advance your claim, and with third parties you authorise — contractors, engineers, accountants. We do not disclose your information to anyone else except where required by law or by the Insurance Council of British Columbia.
Where it is held
Enquiries submitted through this site are processed by our hosting provider and may be stored on servers outside Canada. Do not send confidential documents through the website form. If we take your matter further, we will arrange a secure route for documents.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become files are retained for a limited period and then deleted. Claim files are retained for the period required of licensed adjusters and by our professional obligations. [CONFIRM RETENTION PERIOD]
Your rights
Under PIPA you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and withdraw consent to its use, subject to legal and contractual limits. Write to info@adjusteronline.com.
